A rare bronze figurine created after the hardstone sculpture model by Henrik Wigström, one of the leading craftsmen of the House of Carl Fabergé.

Hand-painted with cold enamels, the figurine depicts a Russian policeman in ceremonial uniform, typical of the Imperial law enforcement service. The sculptural detailing of the attire emphasizes the stately and recognizable image of the official: a long black coat with leather crossbelt, peaked cap with golden trim, and decorations symbolizing state honors. Particular attention is given to the face, with finely rendered features, expressive blue eyes and distinctive moustache, giving the figure a lifelike and realistic presence.

Similar figurines were popular among collectors and high-ranking officials of the early 20th century and were often presented as exclusive gifts and prestigious souvenirs.

In the early 20th century, the House of Fabergé, at the peak of its success under the patronage of the Imperial court, expanded its production to include artistic and decorative objects. Hardstone figurines portraying archetypes of the Russian Empire – from Cossacks to policemen – became part of a unique visual language, reflecting the cultural and ethnographic diversity of the country. Henrik Wigström, head of the Saint Petersburg workshop of Fabergé, created a series of such miniatures that were highly valued by both Russian and European aristocracy. These figures were often given as diplomatic gifts and luxury souvenirs.

Following their popularity, bronze versions of the original models appeared. They were cast in limited numbers, hand-painted with cold enamels, and marked accordingly. Such figurines were acquired by high-ranking individuals as commemorative gifts, decorative objects, and collectible pieces. After the 1917 revolution, production ceased, and surviving examples are now found in museum and private collections.

Overall condition is good. The enamel painting is original, with light age-related fading in some areas. Minor signs of wear consistent with age, without notable losses. Hallmarks are clear and legible. The figurine is fully authentic and preserved in collectible condition.
