Russian icon Cathedral of the Archangel Michael at the end of the 19th century. The icon depicts the face of the Archangel surrounded by heavenly forces that unanimously glorify God.
The Cathedral icon is a multi-figured composition that includes images of the Lord`s army. In the center of the icon is the image of the young Jesus Christ, surrounded by heavenly forces. On the icon, to the right and to the left of the image of the Savior, archangels are depicted. In their hands, the archangels hold small mirrors with the name of Jesus Christ inscribed on them (IC and XC).
Wood, gesso, tempera on gold. The rapport pattern of the fields, stylizing enamel, is characteristic of the late 19th century.
