In 1874, Georges Edouard Piaget opens his first workshop on a family farm located in La Côte aux Feu in the Swiss canton of Jura. He specialized in the production of pocket watches and high precision watch movements. He was helped by his 14 children. Piaget′s name soon became known outside the canton of Neuchâtel. Well-known firms ordered products from him. In 1911 Timote Piaget, son of Georges Piaget, takes over the family business. Since then, the manufactory has been producing wristwatches. In 1943, thanks to the efforts of the founder′s grandchildren, Gerald and Valentin Piaget, Piaget becomes a registered trademark. Since then, the manufactory in La Côte-au-Feu has been producing its own products and is confidently expanding its activities internationally.
