Kid́sh, (Hebrew קידוש; literally consecration”) is a special blessing in Judaism, which is pronounced on holidays and on Shabbat. A prayer of gratitude for the days of Saturday and holidays, sanctified and given by God to the people of Israel, proclaiming the holiness of these days, and also determines the rite of reading the prayer. The Kiddush rite is considered one of the commandments of Judaism. The reading of the blessing is usually performed over a glass of wine.
