An elegant silver tray of oval form with a softly contoured shaped rim and openwork side handles, crafted by Moscow masters in 1881. The composition reflects a refined balance between utilitarian function and artistic expression, characteristic of works from the Late Historicism period.
The central field is adorned with a finely engraved view of the Moscow Kremlin, enclosed within a decorative arched cartouche with rich ornamental framing. The architectural silhouette is rendered with remarkable precision, depicting towers, domes and extended walls, giving the object the character of a commemorative and presentation piece. The ornamental decoration, incorporating elements of the Neo-Russian style, reflects the growing interest in national architecture and decorative traditions in the second half of the 19th century.
The contrast between the polished ground and the matte engraving creates a vivid interplay of light, enhancing the depth of the composition. The shaped handles are seamlessly integrated into the overall silhouette, emphasizing both the completeness of form and functional elegance.
