Contexte historique : Erik August Collin (1836–1901) était un joaillier finlandais connu pour sa collaboration avec la société Carl Fabergé. De 1870 à 1886, Collin travaille comme maître artisan chez Fabergé, où il crée des bijoux de haute qualité. L`une de ses œuvres célèbres est un étui à cigarettes associé à l`empereur Alexandre III, fabriqué par la firme Fabergé. Les œuvres d`Eric Collin font partie des collections de musées tels que les musées du Kremlin de Moscou et l`Art Institute de Chicago.
