Superb jardiniere in the style of Napoleon III, made of gilded bronze and decorated with porcelain inserts made at the royal manufactory of Sevres, depicting a gallant scene in the manner of Francois Boucher, a monogram and two others with decorations. The corners of the object are decorated with figures of caryatids with vases on top. The side parts are decorated with gilded bronze medallions with garlands of silvered bronze. Historical background: Christofle & Cie, for its high quality products, enjoyed great success and was in fact appointed Fournisseur du Roi Louis-Philippe, and later, in 1855, during the reign of Napoleon III, Fournisseur de lEmpereur. The latter ordered a total of more than four thousand different items. Royal household items from Christofle are exhibited in the Louvre and are part of the cultural heritage of France.
