SAZIKOVA Moscow-Petersburg company
Sazikov′s firm was founded in Moscow in 1793 by Pavel Fedorovich Sazikov. The business was continued by the son Ignatius (1793-1868), Paul (1815-1856) and his grandchildren. PF Sazikov, a merchant of the third guild, was the owner of a small workshop in Moscow, which several decades later turned into an extensive enterprise with a branch in St. Petersburg. In 1810, Sazikov became the owner of a factory for the manufacture of various silver items, in 1837 he received the title of a court supplier, and in 1842 a St. Petersburg branch of the factory was opened. Sazikovs firm was the first jewelry company in Russia that turned to national history and art in its products and was one of the main ones in the development of the "Russian" style art. Many famous foreign artists and sculptors were involved in the work, as wells their advanced experience and equipment. The products successfully competed with the works of the best European jewelers, Sazikovs firm was considered one of the best in the middle of the 19th century, had certificates of honor, small and large gold medals for the All-Russian exhibitions of artistic and industrial goods in 1835, 1849, 1853, 1861, 1865.
