Solomko Sergey Sergeevich - Russian artist, graphic artist, watercolorist. Born in St. Petersburg in the family of a general. Studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1883 - 1887) and the Petersburg AI (1887 - 1888). Solomko Sergey Sergeevich masterly painted historical and allegorical plots, scenes from boyar life and illustrations for Russian fairy tales with watercolors.At the end of the 1880s. began collaborating with art magazines as an illustrator. His first known works in this area were published in 1888 in the journal Sever. At the same time, he began to cooperate with the Niva magazine.Made illustrations for the works of Alexander Pushkin for the publishing house of Alexander Suvorin ("The Stone Guest" (1895), "The Drowned Man" (1895), "The Tale of Tsar Saltan" (1896), "The Fountain of Bakhchisarai" (1897)) , A. P. Chekhov ("Kashtanka" (1892), as well as to the books "Song of the merchant Kalashnikov" by M. Yu. Lermontov (1900) and "Dead Souls" by N. V. Gogol (1901; for A. F . Marx; together with a large group of artists).He worked for the Imperial Porcelain Factory, created miniatures for the jewelry firm K. Faberge.In 1903 he made sketches of ancient Russian costumes for a costume ball in the Winter Palace.From 1910 he lived permanently in Paris, where he was very popular. He made illustrations for a number of publications for Parisian publishing houses, created several series of postcards on the themes of Russian antiquity for Lapin′s publishing house.In 1921 he took part in the exhibition of artists of the Imperial Academy of Arts of Petrograd, opened in the Parisian gallery Magellan.In 1925 he took part in the creation of the Russian Art and Industry Institute in Paris. He was a member of the Association for Mutual Assistance and Charity of Russian Artists in Paris.In the second half of the 1920s, Solomko fell seriously ill. He died in 1928 at the Russian House of Sainte-Genevieve-des-Bois. Buried at the local cemetery.
