A romantic seascape by Count Alexey Mordvinov, painted in 1849, captures the refined atmosphere of the northern coast. On the sandy spit, two fishing boats with partially lowered sails stand alongside a horse and several fishermen, preparing for loading or unloading. In the distance, at the waterline, a vessel leans slightly to one side, while on the horizon, small white sails fade into a soft haze. The moist, changeable sky, the silvery tones of the water, and the gentle gradations of light and shadow create an elegiac stillness, as if the sea has paused between storm and calm. Signed lower right: Count Mordvinov 1849.
