Historical information: Louis Armand (1853-1927) was an outstanding Swiss master watchmaker whose work spanned the golden age of Swiss watchmaking. He was known for his attention to detail, innovative mechanisms and focus on international markets, including the Russian Empire. The watches created by Louis Armand were highly valued for their precision, complexity and adaptation to the cultural preferences of different clients. Locle, where the Louis Armand workshop was located, was the center of world watchmaking. The master’s products were repeatedly awarded at international exhibitions, such as the medals of 1895 engraved on the case of this watch. Louis Armand successfully combined the traditions of Swiss handcraft with technological innovation, creating models that are now collector’s items.
Pyotr Arkadyevich Chuksanov was a 2nd guild merchant, the owner of a jewelry store located in the St. Petersburg Gostiny Dvor, along the Mirror Line (No. 71). His store offered a wide range of diamond, gold, silver and bronze items.
