Louis Armand 14K Gold Repeater Pocket Watch. Switzerland Circa 1900

Rare antique gold pocket watch with repeater and chain in the original case by Louis Armand, a Swiss master watchmaker known for his activity from 1853 to 1927. This model, dating back to around 1900, was created specifically for the Russian market, which is confirmed by the calendar in Russian, the use of the assay mark of 56 assay value, as well as the original case with the logo of the seller in St. Petersburg, the company P.A. Chuksanov. The watch case and chain are made of 56-carat gold (Russian metric system) and 14K. The watch is equipped with a complex mechanism with the functions of a quarter repeater, chronograph, calendar (with indication of the date, day of the week, month) and moon phases. A special feature of the model is the presence of a calendar in Russian, which indicates their creation for the Russian market. The dial is made using classic Roman numerals and decorative elements typical of the Swiss haute horlogerie. The case back is engraved with medals from the 1895 International Exhibition, confirming the prestige of the brand and the outstanding quality of its products. The individual watch number 1845 is engraved on the case, and the Locle hallmark indicates its origin from the famous city of Locle, the center of Swiss watchmaking. Pyotr Arkadyevich Chuksanov was a 2nd guild merchant, the owner of a jewelry store located in the St. Petersburg Gostiny Dvor, along the Mirror Line (No. 71). His store offered a wide range of diamond, gold, silver and bronze items.
